Mac version no longer works after upgrade to Big Sur

The newest update to MacOS "Big Sur" appears to be incompatible with MotorLab We are currently working on potential fixes, but we are not sure if it can be done until Apple offers a workaround. Thanks for your patience. If possible you may need to run the labs on an alternate computer (e.g., friend / family member)

Windows (ERROR): "No software will be installed or removed"

When I try to run the MotorLab program I get an error saying "No software will be installed or removed" What is wrong?

This message indicates that the MotorLab software is already sucessfully installed on your computer. You can find the app under Motorlab in the Start menu, by searching for "MotorLab" in the search box next to the start menu, or by clicking the MotorLab icon on the desktop. Do not try to run the "Motorlab_2021_setup" again.

Windows (ERROR): "LabVIEW: (Hex 0xF) Resource not found. lvanlys.dll"

When I try to run the MotorLab program I get an error saying "LabVIEW: (Hex 0xF) Resource not found: lvanlys.dll; "

This error stems from either incorrect version of the Labview runtime engine installed - likely due to some other conflicting software that was previously installed, or due to an incompatibility with certain AMD Ryzen processors.

Try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Try uninstalling anything called "national instruments" or "LabView runtime engine" (as well as motorlab) then Download a NEW copy of the MotorLab setup and try installing it and running again.

2. If it still does not work you can try also installing the LabView 2018 runtime engine directly, and then trying once again to run MotorLab. Download the 64-bit Labview 2018 runtime engine HERE

3. Uninstall MotorLab, download the latest 32-bit Windows Version from the downloads page and re-install this version.

4. If it still does not work you may need to try installing MotorLab on a friend or family member's computer instead - as there seems to be an unknown compatibility issue.

Mac (ERROR): "Could not find the LabView runtime"

When I try to run the MotorLab program I get an error saying "Could not find the LabView runtime, you may need to install it"

This message indicates that you either did not perform all of the installation steps as indicated in the FULL .dmg installer, or that you have used the "update" download without first using the FULL .dmg installer. Note that when you open the FULL MotorLab_2021.dmg file there are two yellow bubbles. First you need to do step 1 - double click to install the LabView runtime engine. Once this installation is complete only THEN you can drag the MotorLab App to your apps folder and run it from there.

How do I install MotorLab on my smartphone, iPad, or Chromebook ?

Unfortunately, MotorLab is only available for Mac or PC - it will not work on Chromebooks, or on smartphones or tablets running iOS or Android.

"Windows Protected your PC"

Issue: You see a message stating that "Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk."

Mac: The "Feedback" lab won't let me finish.

When running the "Feedback / Knowledge of Results" lab, I get to the instructions page for Condition 6, but there is no "OK" button and I cannot continue.

We have fixed this bug in an updated version. Please go to the Downloads page and install the latest version of MotorLab.
